A Sythe in Winter

A cold wind blew through the trees, depriving the few bodies still outside of their warmth. Alya barely felt the wind rush past her as she stood on her perch. She had no heat left for the cold to steal. Despite the conditions she remained ever vigilant, awaiting the promised visitor. Everyday for a month she waited for him. But her wait would be over tonight, she felt it in her soul. Nothing could persuade her away from her post today, the hours crept past and still she keep her eyes towards the horizon. Waiting for him.
